J.O.Y. Makes Trip to Ham’s Orchard
The J.O.Y. group visited Ham’s Orchard. Nineteen made the trip and had a wonderful time, according to Senior’s Director Charlie Wright. While there, they enjoyed lunch and fellowship. Several brought home those “beyond-good”, juicy peaches, and some of those peaches were shared with the church staff. Watch for future trips planned for this group. They always have lots of fun!
It is wonderful thing to be alive. If a person lives to be very old, let him rejoice in every day of life. Eccl. 11: 7-8 (paraphrased)
A Message from Pamela Dountas
Director of Senior Adults Ministries
More and more Americans are living longer because of improved medical technology and better knowledge of how to take care of themselves. Approximately one out of every four Americans is over 50 years of age and this number is increasing every year. Congregations with a strong and vibrant older adult population are blessed with a wealth of experience, wisdom and faith in God. We are such a congregation.
FUMC’s J.O.Y. Club Ministries is setup for the healthy, active older adults to minister to the frail, inactive older adults, homebound and residents of nursing homes. We also have scheduled activities, day trips, fellowship and fun times together. I encourage each of you, who are able, to volunteer for the internal and external ministries provided by our church. I care about and love each one of you.
You’re Sister in Christ,
